Hello, I amAbdullah Mukter Jewel

|

I enjoy learning new things. No matter where I am or which subject I study, I focus only on what matters the most. I am always eager to understand how the world works, and how to create something that may change people's day-to-day lives. Giving up is not an option.

About me

I am a student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Bangladesh. I am drawn to the place where electronics meets software, where a few lines of code can make a circuit sense, decide and respond.

My first big personal project was PlanCraft 3D, a free home planning tool I started in order to plan my family's house. It grew into a complete 2D and 3D planner with a cost estimator that uses local Bangladeshi material prices. Alongside it, I build embedded projects on the ESP-32 to understand sensors, timing and real-world signals.

To support my family, I tutor almost ten SSC and HSC (Science) students. Outside the lab I read and think about quantum physics, astrophysics, geopolitics and history, and I take photographs of nature whenever the light is kind.

My story

My father did not get the success he worked so hard for, yet his greatest success is me. I am the next chapter of his legacy.

— on growing up beside a village tea shop in South East Mekhal

SOUTH EAST MEKHAL · HATHAZARI · CHATTOGRAM

I was born and raised in South East Mekhal, a village in Hathazari, Chattogram, and as a boy I was a helping hand in my father's tea shop. My father is an educated man who is very good in mathematics. He supported his family by tutoring and later opened the tea shop. My mother is a homemaker who keeps our home with strong values. Their sacrifice is the reason I study today.

In a circuit, resistance never stops the current. It only asks for more voltage. This is the story of how I kept finding mine.

Roots

Born in South East Mekhal, Hathazari. My father, strong in mathematics, supported the family by tutoring and later opened a tea shop. My mother is a homemaker of firm principles.

t₁

Madrasa years

Nursery to class 3 at a Noorani madrasa, finishing in 2nd place.

t₂

Primary school

Joined class 4 at roll 41 of 45, then stood 1st in every exam. PSC A+, the only one in the school, plus 3 of 3 scholarships passed.

t₃

High school

2nd among 126 in admission, then 1st from class 6 to 10. JSC GPA 4.93. SSC GPA 4.72, a result that hurt, because I had hoped for A+.

R↑

The storm

During SSC my mother was diagnosed with stage-4 lymphoma. The tea shop could not cover her treatment and our family was shaken financially.

t₄

Hathazari College

Among 121 A+ students I felt small, yet finished 3rd in first year and 1st in second year. Shanta Apu taught me Chemistry and Biology free for two years. I will always be grateful.

HSC 2022

1206 / 1300, the highest in college, Golden A+. Cracked CUET, Dhaka University and SUST and was shortlisted for the BUET written round.

October 2023: began Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Since then I support my family by tutoring almost 10 SSC and HSC (Science) students. Alhamdulillah, the journey continues.

Projects

ESP-32 embedded projects

Hands-on builds, each one tested on the breadboard and recorded on video.

ESP-32 with ultrasonic sensor and OLED display on a breadboard Ultrasonic sensor measuring distance against a ruler OLED display showing the measured distance

PROJECT 01 · MEASUREMENT

Distance Measurement with ESP-32

An ultrasonic sensor sends a pulse and times its echo. The ESP-32 converts the time of flight into centimetres and shows the reading live on an OLED display. I checked the output against a ruler to see how accurate it really is.

How it works
  1. The ESP-32 triggers the HC-SR04 with a 10 µs pulse.
  2. It measures the width of the echo pulse.
  3. Distance = (time × speed of sound) ÷ 2.
  4. The result is drawn on the I²C OLED display.

PROJECT 02 · SENSING

Obstruction Detection with IR Sensor

An infrared obstacle sensor watches the path. While it is clear, a green LED stays on. When a hand or object comes close, the ESP-32 switches to a red warning LED and prints “Obstacle Detected” on the serial monitor.

How it works
  1. The IR transmitter emits light and the receiver watches for reflection.
  2. A digital output from the module goes LOW when something is near.
  3. The ESP-32 reads the pin and switches the LEDs accordingly.
  4. The status is also logged over serial for debugging.

PROJECT 03 · INSTRUMENTATION

Tachometer with ESP-32

A contactless RPM meter. The ESP-32 counts pulses from an optical sensor as a motor spins and displays the speed on an OLED screen. I compared it side by side with a commercial handheld tachometer to validate the readings.

How it works
  1. A sensor produces one pulse per rotation (or per blade).
  2. An interrupt on the ESP-32 timestamps every pulse.
  3. RPM = 60 ÷ period between pulses.
  4. The value is smoothed and shown on the OLED.

PROJECT 04 · CONTROL

Traffic Light Controller

A three-colour traffic signal driven by the ESP-32. It cycles through green, yellow and red with timed delays, which is a clean first exercise in GPIO outputs and sequential state control.

How it works
  1. Three GPIO pins are set as outputs, one per LED.
  2. Green → yellow → red, each held for a fixed time.
  3. The loop repeats forever like a real signal.
  4. Next step: pedestrian button and timing by interrupt.

What keeps me curious

Engineering teaches me how to build. These subjects remind me to keep asking why.

Quantum Physics

Waves that are also particles, probabilities instead of certainties. It is the physics behind every transistor I use.

Astrophysics

I have studied black holes, wormholes, time and dimensions, and the space around us, and I keep learning about space every day. I even photographed a 22° solar halo, which you can see in the gallery below.
